Abstract
This paper is based on the results of the research entitled Work experiences of four hearing impaired people in Bogota. A search was carried out in five universities in the capital in order to become more involved in the topic, showing the lack of research on the work conditions of this community. This led the group to ask themselves the question: What has been the work experience of these hearing impaired people in Bogota? The concept of impairment was taken as a conceptual reference; this includes the classification of types of impairment, the way to understand hearing impairments and deafness from lip-reading and sign language, as well as the way how this impairment is compensated with the development of other senses. Human experiences are also evidenced as subjectification processes from work environments and a series of terms related to human development and life standards are suggested.
