Tensions and Contradictions in Teleology about the Social Work Intervention Processes

Abstract

The discussion about the professional practice of Social Work shows a relevance and validity granted to it by the historical meaning of the profession. It is for this reason that addressing the study of the implications of professional intervention is fundamental to its strengthening process. The article presents a series of reflections about social work as a social complex, and focuses on the central element of the definition of teleology or the goal of professional intervention. For this purpose, the paper presents the meaning of certain categories such as job, social complexes and teleologies, and then mentions the mediations that characterize social work intervention. As a result of an approach that articulates immanent reading and an active comprehension of statements, the different dimensions that converge and affect professional practice as guidelines or dispositions to be considered when defining the intervention strategies, are presented.
